Description
Afghanistan looks at this age-old land and country as it was before the Soviet invasion. It contains two epilogues; one written in 1978 and the other in 1980 right before the Soviet invasion. Afghanistan traces the development of this country from a tribal and politically unstable nation to one with a system of representative government consistent with its cultural and historical patterns. Apart from the narrative, the author presents all this material to us through charts, maps, and illustrations. It also contains appendices on music and calendars used in Afghanistan.

This book is the single best survey sort of book written on Afghanistan that lets you in on real Afghanistan. All the pages are replenished with the true understanding and perspective of the original Afghan land is about. Some of the readers might find it a bit dry as the book is quite thick and is laced with details. However a bookish lot like me would love to delve into it. Totally worth the price. Thanks kitaab now.
