Author Biography

Syed Shabbar Zaidi is a distinguished Pakistani chartered accountant and former Chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (2019–2020). A graduate with distinction from Hailey College of Commerce, Lahore, he is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), where he served as President (2005–2006). Zaidi has held significant roles, including Provincial Minister of Finance, Board of Revenue, and Excise & Taxation in Sindh’s 2013 caretaker government, and Territory Senior Partner at A.F. Ferguson & Co. (2014–2019). An accomplished author, his works include Pakistan: Not a Failed State and Panama Leaks: A Blessing in Disguise. His non-profit contributions include being a founder trustee of the Sindh Institute of Urology & Transplantation (SIUT) and a member of the Board of Governors at Liaquat National Hospital, Karachi. Zaidi’s writings blend economic, legal, and socio-political insights with a deep understanding of Islamic principles.
