Sindh has been a place of learning at different times in history but historically the indigenous education system of Sindh has never got the opportunity to flourish and reach to a level of maturity. Present education system of Sindh was inherited from the British colonial education system that was designed to produce work-force for the East India Company and for British Empire. British destroyed the “network of indigenous schools and left in their place a poorly developed education system that has an extremely narrow base” (Nambisan and Lall, 2011). Here the purpose of this book is only to focus on the processes that played a vial role in teacher professionalization in Sindh. The core purpose of this book is to provide some relevant and context specific insights to teachers, teacher educators, education managers and policymakers on the process of teacher professionalization and contribute to contextual discourse on teaching profession in Sindh.
