Description

This is a unique resource and reference book, suitable for general readers as well as for teachers and students. It gives detailed and accessible information on familiar grammar terms such as ‘noun’ ‘verb’ subject’ and ‘predicate’; and on more obscure but equally important ones such as ‘absolute construction’, ‘aspect’ ‘modality’ and ‘subjunctive’. In all, it deals with 250 terms drawn from traditional grammar, structuralist grammar, systemic functional grammar, and from the most recent work in universal grammar.
