Description

More than 77 years ago, a man of impeccable character, unimpeachable integrity, and astonishing intellect may have actually given us the answers to questions that wrack the delicate political and security equilibrium of both Pakistan and India, to this very day. After the lapse of so many years, the loss of so much life, and the decades of human suffering that has resulted from a collective deafness of the past; it is high time we listened to them, now.

“The Muslim population in these States – in all these States, in Alwar, Bharatpur, Patiala, Nabha, Jind, Faridkot, Kapurthala and Gwalior – has been entirely wiped out by this time, either by massacre or by forcible expulsion. As I have already said, Kapurthala had a majority of Muslims in its population – some 235,000. Today, there is not a single Muslim left in Kapurthala. Oh, no, I am mistaken; it has been pointed out to me that two were left. Two – not two thousand, not two hundred – but two out of 235,000”

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister – 16th January 1948
