Exploring Reading is an exciting anthology of passages in a variety of genres. It provides reading practice and develops language skills in an enjoyable way.

Exploring Reading is a series of six books of wholesome reading for primary pupils. Each book contains a variety of passages by different authors. The passages have been selected for their appropriateness to each age group, in terms of vocabulary and interest level. They range from stories and folk tales to factual articles on natural history, cultural traditions, and other subjects. A number of poems are also included. Words and phrases that the young reader might find difficult are explained at the end. Each passage is followed by a set of five exercise, which test the thinking, reasoning and writing skills of the pupils. Answers are available for teachers.

Author Biography

Rosalind Fergusson, a former teacher, has spent 25 years compiling a wide range of language related reference books. She has contributed to Chambers School Spelling (2003), Cassell Dictionary of English Idioms (1999), Macmillan Guide to English Grammar(1998), among others. She is an editor, lexicographer, writer, and a former teacher with a wide range of reference books to her name. She lives in Kent with her husband David and occupies her leisure time with walking, sailing, literature and music.
