Grammar Skills is a series of six workbooks which is written specifically to provide students with valuable links between basic, traditional grammatical concepts and the functional contexts in which they are used. The activities represent a blend of traditional and functional approaches to describe how texts ‘work’ in real life situations and why certain grammatical choices are considered appropriate. Traditional grammar serves to provide students with the special terminology needed to talk about grammar, while functional grammar is intended to improve communicative competence by showing students how grammar works in the context of different text types.

Author Biography

Rosemary Allen has vast experience in teaching, writing curriculum materials and educational consultancy. She has been a principal and held posts in various educational associations in Australia, Indonesia and Singapore. She has also taught at the National Institute of Education, Singapore and the University of Western Australia. Now a full-time writer, she has published widely throughout Asia, Australia, UK and USA.
