ACP MKSAP 17: Cardiovascular Medicine

High Value Care (HVC) content has been integrated into MKSAP 17 in several important ways. MKSAP 17 now includes HVC-identified key points in the text, HVC-focused multiple choice questions, and for subscribers to MKSAP Digital, an HVC custom quiz. From the text and questions, we have generated the following list of HVC recommendations that meet the definition below of high value care and bring us closer to our goal of improving patient outcomes while conserving finite resources. Below are the High Value Care recommendations for the Cardiovascular Medicine section of MKSAP 17. Current guidlines do not support the use of high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) evaluation in the general population, but haCRP testing may be used in intermediate-risk patients in whom choice of the therapy may be affected by reclassification of risk.
