ACP MKSAP 17: Neurology

Description

High Value Care (HVC) content has been integrated into MKSAP 17 in several important ways. MKSAP 17 now includes HVC-identified key points in the text, HVC-focused multiple choice questions, and for subscribers to MKSAP Digital, an HVC custom quiz. From the text and questions, we have generated the following list of HVC recommendations that meet the definition below of high value care and bring us closer to our goal of improving patient outcomes while conserving finite resources. Below are the High Value Care recommendations for the Neurology section of MKSAP 17. Guidelines specifically recommend against neuroimaging studies in patients with stable headaches that meet criteria for migraine or uncomplicated headache. No evidence supports the superiority of anticoagulation over antiplatelet therapy in prevention of stroke after carotid and vertebral artery dissections, and most patients are initially managed with aspirin.
